Deborah Cohn - Making a Difference

Deborah Cohn graduated from the George Mason University School of Law in 1982 before taking a position as Trademark Examining Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1983. She quickly moved up to Managing Attorney at the USPTO by 1988 and by 1998 had become the Group Director of Trademark Law Offices. Under this title, Deborah oversaw the operation of trademark law offices in area of legal examination.

  1. Deborah Cohn: Making A Difference Deborah Cohn started working at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1983 as a Trademark Examining Attorney. She graduated from the American University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1974 before pursuing her degree in Law from George Mason University in 1982. As a Trademark Examining Attorney, Deborah examined applications for trademark registration to determine compliance with the Lanham Act and Rules of Practice.

Deborah Cohn: Dedicated Attorney Deborah Cohn graduated from George Mason University School of Law, Juris Doctor, in 1982 and took a position as a Trademark Examining Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1983. In her position at the USPTO, she examined applications for trademark registration to determine compliance with the Lanham Act and Rules of Practice. Her position also included writing appeal briefs and presenting oral arguments before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

By 1982, she had achieved a degree in law from the George Mason University School of Law, and by 1983, had secured a position as Trademark Examining Attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She would work her way up the organization over the years to where she is currently, as Commissioner of Trademarks. Deborah Cohn is retiring in January, 2015.
