Where we work <ul><li>Former Soviet Union </li></ul><ul><li>In June 2009, EN were awarded funding from the United Nations Democracy Fund to develop and connect civil society in Ukraine and Moldova. </li></ul><ul><li>Activities will include: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>a sustainable regional forum, </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>a series of innovative practitioner-focused events, </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>a good practice handbook, </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>and an internet portal that will both reinforce democratic infrastructure and increase CSO quality </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The project will, in the long term, result in stronger, more legitimate and credible CSOs with more effective democratic participation. </li></ul><ul><li>EN is working on funding opportunities to connect and develop civil society in Belarus. </li></ul>

Where we work <ul><li>Mediterranean </li></ul><ul><li>EN plan to replicate our work across the Euro-Med region including Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon </li></ul><ul><li>Process will begin with a two day event that will highlight the specific leadership needs of civil society leaders in the region </li></ul>

The Northern Hub <ul><li>EN’s Northern Hub was launched on 30 June in Gotland, Sweden </li></ul><ul><li>The Northern Hub will: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Connect leaders from the Baltic Republics and former Soviet Union countries including </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Specfically meet the needs of third sector leaders in the region </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Develop regional connections </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Facilitate regional job-shadowing exchanges </li></ul></ul>

National professional bodies <ul><li>EN has supported the creation of the first Italian body for third sector leaders, Leader2Leader, launched in June 2008 and the first Slovenian body, Slovenian Association of NGO Managers, launched in March 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>Other groups are in development in Portugal, Spain, Germany and Ireland </li></ul>
