  1. AlphaSmarts Labeling, organizing, and maintaining your AlphaSmarts

  2. The Bretford Cart • Follow the directions from Bretford to assemble the cart. • It should look like this when you have successfully completed assembly.

  3. Open the back panel by pushing down and then pulling out. • Each power adapter must be plugged in. You will want to use a twist-tie to manage the cords

  4. Managing the cords • You will need to let enough cord loose to reach to the front of the cart. • Use a twist-tie to bundle the rest of the cord • You may want to thread the top row through the opening up top, and the bottom two rows through the opening in the bottom.

  5. The black clips will come with your Bretford cart. • Use these to manage the cords for ease of use. • This will keep the end accessible for when an AlphaSmart needs to be charged

  6. Plug each AlphaSmart into its own spot and you are ready to charge. • There is a little switch accessible through the back panel that must be switched to the “ON” position in order to be charged.

  7. Labeling the Alphasmarts • You will want to develop a consistent way to label your AlphaSmart carts. • Each AlphaSmart should be assigned a number and should be marked e-readers

  8. Label each AlphaSmart using an e-readers label. • Be careful not to cover up the serial number!

  9. You may want to put the number on the front as well. • The front number will be useful for the teachers for classroom maintenance.

  10. Label each slot to match your AlphaSmart labeling. • This will make it much easier to maintain a checkout system.
