Difference between V belt and Timing Belt V Belt:- V belt is the belt seen externally under the bonnet driving the water pump, alternator for battery charging and the cooling fan drive for the radiator. Another V belt is also found to drive the air-con pulley from the same crankshaft pulley. Worn out belts can be visually inspected by their look or by slackness beyond tension adjustment. V-belts were the standard accessory [alt, Power steering, WP, AC] drive belt before the serpentines. The V belt connects all of your pulleys, runs your alternator, air conditioner, water pump etc. A V belt is smooth. Properties Constant length L = L per ISO specifications Temperature range from -40°c up to +70°c Meets anti-static requirements from ISO 1813 Resistant to dust Meets RoHS and REACH requirements Application Nowadays, classical V-Belts are primarily considered for replacement requirements.   2. Timing Belt:- Timing belt is a special cogged (toothed) belt driving the the camshaft and covered by the timing case.
