EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS In addition to successful completion of a Board approved registered nursing program, a person must have successfully completed an organized post-basic program of study and clinical experience at the graduate level (master's or doctorate's degree) recognized by the regulatory agency, in concert with the national nursing organization. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS The schedule of certification examinations is determined by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION There are no age, residency or work experience (after completion of the prelicensure program) requirements for licensure. Must have current, active RN license in Kentucky and be certified as a clinical nurse specialist. Must seek registration as an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP). Initial registration fee is $80.00. Biennial registration must be renewed by October 31 of even years, at a fee of $55.00. Registration and reciprocity with other states varies. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Thirty (30) contact hours are required for biennial renewal of registered nurse license.
