  4. Ventilation:- • Level of roasting:- The room that you will be using for the roasting process, should be very well ventilated. This is important because roasting on higher flames (only if you need medium and dark roast) can emit a good amount of smoke. So, it’s important to have a good source of ventilation present in the room. Depending upon what level of roast you are looking for, you need to monitor the roasting process throughout. Because, if you do not either it will remain half roasted or it will be burnt completely. • Chaff:- • Storage:- The by-product of roasting coffee is called Chaff. This part is the dry husk of the coffee bean can be a bit difficult to handle, as it’s a bit messy. To avoid this entire mess, all you need to do is take your beans outside and allow them to cool properly. In case you find it difficult to remove the chaff, then you can also just shake the beans in the bowl, a little harder. Once you find that the beans are cooled down, make sure to store them in an airtight container. Also, this airtight container should be kept away from heat and light. By doing so, the beans will remain fresh for approximately a month. Source: Unique ways of roasting your coffee at home
