  1. Smart Truck ELD What are ELDs? The Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) device is used by drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to automatically record driving time and Hours of Service (HOS) records, as well as capture data on the vehicle’s engine, movement, and miles driven. The IRS ELD keeps truck drivers and dispatchers informed of driver status in real-time to support fleet compliance, inspections, and planning.ELD is an Authorised IRS e-File Provider and FMCSA Certified ELD or "electronic logging devices" Provider. The Electronic Logging Devices Hardwaredevices connected to the vehicle’s engine control module which help gather crucial data to streamline workflows and ensure drivers’ safety. It is mandatory for many commercial trucks and buses in the U.S.It simplifies record keeping and fleet management with precise digital records of the drivers’ working hours, locations and other tour details. It includes a screen for the driver, so they can monitor their current status and print hour logs when required by DOT inspectors. It’s important to recognize that IRS ELDs do not impose an additional layer of regulation on the trucking industry. Instead,

  2. these devices are designed to make an already-required daily task easier to perform. ELDs are made up of several parts, including a vehicle tracking device which connects to the truck, fleet management software and a mobile app. For more information on Geotab's ELD solution, click here. What Is The ELDs Mandate? The ELDIRS e-File Provider mandate, orIRS e-File ELDs Provider Final Rule, is a U.S. federal government regulation specifying that operators of commercial motor vehicles covered by this law will be required to use electronic logging devices, or IRS e-File ELDs Provider These devices are designed to record data related to operation of the vehicle and to driver activity. The driver information mainly concerns hours of service, or HOS. Commercial truckers are restricted to a maximum number of hours they are allowed to drive between rest periods. HOS is a permanent record of driving hours, on-duty hours (when drivers are working but not driving) and rest time, over the course of a trip. The first federal law that required commercial drivers in the U.S. to keep these service records was passed in 1937.

  3. Paper log books were originally used, with the information entered by writing. The IRS e-File ELD Provider mandate requires replacing paper logs and an earlier type of recorder called an Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD) with automated ELD technology. What does an ELD do? An ELD integrates with the vehicle engine to record driving time for accurate Hours of Service (HOS.) How does an ELD work? The ELD communicates directly with a vehicle’s engine and automatically records driving activity and other information such as engine hours, ignition status, location and miles driven. The telematics device then sends engine and GPS location data to a server, where Duty Status logs are created and pushed to the ELD mobile app for viewing. The information is continually updated. Drivers can access their electronic logging information from an ELD mobile app on their smartphone or tablet. The mobile app is also synced with fleet management software so that fleet and compliance managers can monitor and analyse compliance with the help of ELD reports, maps and notifications. ELD (Electronic Logging device",) Devices capture and transmit a wide range of data points to make sure that

  4. businesses are accurately recording hours of service and maximising available driver hours. These include: Vehicle Information captured directly from the vehicle: ● Vehicle identification ● Motor carrier identification ● Date ● Time ● Geographic location ● Miles travelled ● Engine power up and shutdown ● Yard moves ● 60-minute intervals of motion ● Engine diagnostics and malfunction Information captured from the driver: ● Driver or authorised user identification ● Driver logon/logoff ● Hours of service (HOS) ● Duty status changes (driving, on duty, off duty) ● Personal use ●Certification of driver’s daily record

  5. The ELD (Electronic Logging device")records these data points automatically, but some entries can be manually edited or annotated by the driver or support staff. Edits are tracked and have to be approved by the driver. Understanding ELDs Compliance Maintaining a record of driver hours for each driver (where required via and ELD) is part of DOT compliance but there are a number of other factors that need to be taken into consideration to ensure that fleets and drivers adhere to DOT standards. ELD Compliance means installing and properly using an FMCSA-registered ELD to record hours-of-service in required vehicles. The following vehicles are subject to the mandate: Interstate CMVs where drivers are currently required to keep record of duty status. Vehicles that weigh 10,001 pounds or more. Our Services Our Smart Truck ELD app for iOS and Android devices includes standard data displays and data transfer processes, making it easier to demonstrate compliance and faster to share RODS with safety officials. Smart Truck ELD provides a portable and mobile solution that is certified and registered with the FMCSA, fully meeting its technical specifications. We believe in contributing to a safe working environment for all drivers. That's why Smart Truck ELD will never feature technology to block your starter, cut off fuel lines, or any sort of kill switch in any of our products.
