It is a spectacular water fall situated in the east of Belgaum city. The waterfall is at the distance of 73 km from Belgaum and 6 km away from Gokak city. The thick reddish brown water sweeps far over the brink of the cliff with a dull roar that can be heard from some distance. There is a hanging bridge across the river, measuring about 201 metres (659 ft). Its height above the rock bed is 14 metres (46 ft). There is an old electricity generation station and electricity was generated here for the first time in 1887.
The beautiful fort was built by the king of the Ratta dynasty named, Bichi Raja. The fort was built to protect the kingdom from any invasion.
