  2. MATEC’s Mission: Since 1988, MATEC has sought to increase the number of health care providers in our region who are effectively educated and motivated to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage HIV infection. 

  3. MATEC’s Funding Resources • Major funding from HRSA Ryan White CARE Act (over 80%) • Additional grant funding in some States (State/Local Health Departments, etc.) • Program Income and Small Program Contracts in some States

  4. MATEC’s Target Audiences • The “Big Six” Clinical Care Providers (HRSA’s Focus): • Physicians • Nurses • Nurse Practitioners • Physician Assistants • Dental Professionals • Pharmacists

  5. MATEC’s Target Audiences • Additional Audiences (with other funds) Other members of the clinical care team including: Social Workers Case Managers Substance Abuse Professionals Mental Health Providers

National AETC Network • Network of Training Centers • 11 Regional Centers with more than 130 local sites serving healthcare providers nationwide • 4 National Centers that provide support services to the AETC network • Funded by Health Resources and Services Administration - HIV/AIDS Bureau - Ryan White CARE Act

National Resources, continued • National Minority AETC (Howard University) • Focus on capacity building of minority clinicians and agencies to provide HIV care • National Evaluation Center (AIDS Policy Research Center at UC San Francisco) • Works with AETCs to develop and implement evaluation models and strategies
