  1. 5 Superfoods You Should Be Eating Right Now If you strive to eat healthy and stay fit then you already know what a daunting task this can be. Let's face it - it's not easy attempting to live a normal life while taking care of your body. Many of us turn to multi-vitamins as our "go-to" source for optimal nutrition, simply because the prep time and commitment that is involved in eating well is not always readily available. According to the easo.org (The European Association For The Study Of Obesity) 65% of the world's population live in countries that are affected by obesity and since 1980 the rate of obesity as has doubled. When you pair that up with all of the junk and fast food sources that are within an earshot away it can be extremely tempting to put just anything into your body. If you want to start eating right, but are short on time; consuming superfoods may be your answer. But before we begin - what exactly defines a superfood? There is no guideline or specific classification except for the the fact that some foods seem to be higher in nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and benefits that protect our bodies from cell damage. If you imagine your body as a sort of "engine" then you which would you rather fuel it with? low grade or high grade octane? That's what some of these special dietary enhancers do. Here are 5 superfoods that you should consider putting your focus into.

  2. 1. Salmon The taste of fish does not appeal to everyone, but out of all of the possibilities for producing a great-tasting dish that serves up a great dose of health - salmon is one of them. Just one half of a Salmon filet provides a good source of calories that contain a LOT of B vitamins, potassium and omega-3 fatty acids. And if you're looking for a reasonable source of selenium, pantothenic acid and protein then look no further. Also note that the link between consuming omega 3 fatty acid-rich fish and cardiovascular health is a quite a positive one. Salmon is also good for joint health too; which is why many people take fish oil capsules as a quick substitute. 2. Seaweed The name doesn't sound appetizing, but seaweed-related edibles are extremely powerful for the body. They typically contain high amounts of iron, zinc, calcium, iodine and magnesium and are an excellent source of vitamin C and a great source of protein. Kelp is a really good one to start with, but if you're a fan of Sushi then the Nori that this Japanese staple is wrapped in will also do. It is also commonly found as an ingredient in many super food powders that you can make smoothies from. 3. Kale Tired of the predictable salad makings? Try kale as a substitute for lettuce. Don't like the texture of Kale - don't forget to "massage" the leafs first before putting them into your salad. Yes that is really a thing and will make the tender and pleasant to eat. According to http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=38, just 1 cup of cooked kale can yield as much as 1180% of your needed daily value of vitamin K. It's a fantastic source of fiber, vitamin C & A. Pair that up with the fact that kale also is loaded with copper, phosphorus, potassium and omega-3 fats and you've got yourself a real winner on your hands.

  3. 4. Blueberries There is nothing that beats the freshness of a handful of blueberries and they are highly ranked for their antioxidant properties; which can help fight free radicals that target cell structures. This little, blue fruit is fully loaded with vitamin K, C, manganese and is thought to help with mental stability, the fight against aging and to be beneficial to heart health. Not to mention that there are many, many delicious ways to combine them into something quite extraordinary. 5. Kefir Kefir is considered to be one of the best sources of probiotics. In essence it is a type of fermented milk that is healthy to drink and has a slightly "sour" taste much like yogurt. It is also very high in certain minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc just to name a few. Some of the powerful probiotics that have been identified in Kefir are lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus rhamnosus, lactobacillus caucasus and lactobacillus bulgaricus.
