  1. New Changes in UPI RULES FROM 1ST AUGUST 2025

  2. Balance Check Limit (50 Times Per Day) From now on, you can check your bank balance on any UPI app (like Paytm, PhonePe, GPay) only up to 50 times in one day per app. This is done to reduce unnecessary server load. But you don’t have to worry—after every successful payment, your updated balance will automatically appear on the screen. So, in most cases, you won’t even need to check it again and again.

  3. Linked Bank Accounts View Limit (25 Times Per Day) Whenever you open your UPI app and try to see which bank accounts are linked to your mobile number, you can now do that only 25 times a day per app. This helps reduce background requests and keeps the system running smoothly for everyone. Since most people rarely need to check this list, this rule will not affect daily usage much.

  4. AUTO-PAY (MANDATE) TIMING & RETRY RULES Payments like subscriptions, EMIs, electricity bills, or OTT renewals (which are paid automatically every month) will now be processed during non-busy hours only, like early morning, afternoon, or late night. This avoids failures during peak hours when most people are making payments. Also, each auto-payment will be given one main attempt and up to three retries if it fails, so you don’t have to worry about missing your payments.

  5. PENDING TRANSACTION STATUS CHECKS (MAX 3 TIMES) If your payment gets stuck and shows “pending,” you can now check its status only up to 3 times for that transaction, and you must wait at least 90 seconds between each check. This avoids unnecessary server pressure from people tapping “refresh” again and again. The system will update you automatically once the bank confirms the payment.

  6. RECEIVER DETAILS BEFORE PAYMENT Before you hit the final “Send” button for a UPI transfer, your app will now clearly show the receiver’s registered bank name, their name, and the transaction ID. This gives you an extra layer of confirmation so that you don’t accidentally send money to the wrong account or get tricked by fraudsters using similar names.
