Tracking of Comments (Knowledge Center) 917 items have been added to the database 297 Tanker, 608 Bulk Carrier, 12 both 845 (92%) of the items have been completed 291 tanker, 545 bulker and 9 both Of the completed items, 366 items (~43%) led to a rule change requests About 48% of the items were for editorial changes. 49% of the bulker items and 33% of the tanker items have led to rule change requests. Further Developments CSR Harmonization Project • CSR (Common Structural Rules) developed separately for Tankers and Bulk Carriers • IACS agreed to harmonize the rules, which is currently in progress. • Key elements such as wave loads, fatigue, finite element analysis and buckling. • Harmonized CSR will consist of three parts − a common part and two separate parts for ship type specific requirements.

External Review(two stages) 1st stage An External Advisory Group (EAG) will participate in review meetings with IACS throughout the final development phase, to be informed about the progress and interim results. The review meetings will be held in time for the Project Teams to consider and act on its advice before finalizing the draft requirements. 2nd stage The draft Rules will be made available for general review on the IACS website and in technical presentations. IACS will provide a feedback mechanism for additional comments from the industry and other stakeholders by correspondence within a deadline.

  15. External Advisory Group(EAG) • The purpose of the External Advisory Group • to create a channel for information about progress and interim results from the harmonization project • to provide the harmonization project with ongoing advice from experts in modern tanker and bulk carrier structural design, construction and operation. • The EAG will work during the 1st stage of external review until December 2011. • After the first draft Rules is published in January 2012, General review by the industry will start as the 2nd stage of external review.

  16. External Advisory Group • Experts will be selected based on experience and background in design, construction and/or operation of tankers and/or bulk carriers • Experts will be requested to make significant contributions to the harmonization project. • The individual members of the EAG act in their individual capacity, relying on their own experience and expertise.

  19. Technical Committee Review • Members’ Technical Committees will review the final draft Rules before adoption by IACS • March 2013 – May 2013
