  7. Kairos Inside Continuing Ministry Commitment 1: Attend ALL monthly reunions & retreats if possible. 2: Total Confidentiality. “WHAT IS SAID HERE, STAYS HERE”. 3. Assist with Prayer & Share if requested. 4. Encourage the participants to bond with each other and NOT the volunteers Being Present

  8. Goal and Purpose Enter into Christian Community with each other. 1. Be faithful to the love of Christ. 2. Support each other in that love, & 3. Share that love throughout the institution. Being Present

  10. WEEKLY PRAYER & SHARE This is the heart of Kairos! Being Present

  11. Monthly Reunions Kairos returns monthly to assist the participants in becoming productive citizens. Participants provide leadership for monthly Reunions. Three or more Participants are selected to share how Jesus is working in their lives. Being Present

  12. One or Two Day Retreats PURPOSE: To encourage Kairos Graduates, especially those who have fallen away. A Retreat is held around 3 months following each Weekend. The Retreat is conducted by a small team with a minimum of 10 Kairos volunteers and is open to all participants who have attended a Weekend. Being Present

  15. INSIDE RESIDENT COMMUNITY COUNCIL 1.Under the direction of the Chaplain with input from the Continuing Ministry Coordinator. 2. Assists the Chaplain with the organization of the inside Kairos community Being Present

  16. The Wisdom of Kairos The heart of Kairos SUCCESS is the ongoing, Continuing Ministry where the Institution’s Kairos Community meets weekly in Prayer & Share Grouping. It is here that the purposes of Kairos are accomplished through . . . inmate character formation, along with Positive, spiritual, and behavior modification . Being Present

  17. Kairos Outside“Relieve my troubled heart and bring me out of my distress.” – Psalm 25: 17 Purpose To demonstrate God’s grace and love through Christian support for women who have relatives/friends who are, or have been incarcerated. Being Present

  18. Love and Support Begins on the Weekend. Continues to grow through Guests’ participation in the Reunions and Support Groups. Showing God’s love through support for the individual. God’s love through support for the Small groups. Being Present

  19. Kairos Outside Continuing Ministry Reunions Opportunity to meet and socialize offering consistent exposure in sharing their lives with others. Guests who attend the Weekend are broken and disappointed. Will have an opportunity to be listened and loved. “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” – Romans 12:10 Being Present

  20. Advisory Council Role Continuing Ministry Coordinator: major responsibility is to ensure continuing ministry is running properly (ACOP, page 16). Selection of Reunion leaders: develop leadership. Minimum of four times a year. Families, children, potential team members, and guests are encouraged to attend. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20 Being Present

  21. First Reunion After the Weekend: Introduction to the use of S.W.A.P. cards. Support Groups: similar to a Table Family Sharing thoughts and feelings. Learn more about each other. Learn more about themselves. Continue to grow together. Being Present

  24. KAIROS TORCH Purpose To offer unconditional love and acceptance, encouraging young men and women to share their life journey through participation in a long mentoring program. Being Present

  25. Mentoring Program Begins with a Weekend retreat inside the correctional facility. Two-day program for youth ages 25 and under who live in juvenile detention centers or correctional facilities. Introduce young men and women to Christian concepts as a mean of making better choices for their lives. Being Present

Kairos Torch Continuing Ministry • Each participant will be mentored for six (6) months after the Weekend. • Done by volunteer team members (commitment). • Through unconditional love (and listening), the incarcerated youth will begin to see themselves as God sees them: unique, special, and created in the image of God. Being Present

  27. Continuing Ministry (cont) Through unconditional love (and listening), the incarcerated youth will begin to see themselves as God sees them: unique, special, and created in the image of God. Masks off: They will be able to make positive choices for their lives. Being Present
