Internship Objectives • Overall Objective: Maintain statistical database. Have working relationship with coaching staff, courtside crew and all of basketball operations staff of Memphis Grizzlies. • Handle payroll of stats crew. Responsible for distribution and handling of scheduling conflicts involved with stats crew for home basketball games. • Upkeep and maintain scouting database. Making scouting folders for tournaments such as Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, NIKE Hoop Summit and Orlando Pre-draft Camp. • Handle and develop all stats or “breakdowns” for coaching staff or Grizzlies executive office officials. • Work courtside with stats crew during every home game. • Work with coaching staff during pre-draft workouts. Keep inventory of players’ progressions during workouts for the NBA draft.
Daily Activities • Update team stats as well as offensive breakdowns for the Grizzlies coaching staff. • Update scouting database daily as scouting reports are received from scouts. • Research players and events such as Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and NIKE Hoop Summit. • Act as a liaison between stats crew employees and the Grizzlies. • Payroll for stats crew (every two weeks).
Project Description • NBA Draft Folders • Project Description: Making multiple draft books for each scout concerning the NBA Draft, Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and Orlando Pre-Draft Camp. Each draft book is between 150-300 pages and contains individual player profiles, scouting reports and player medical reports. Each book has between 50-100 players. In total, approximately 30-35 of these books will be made.
