Read the story of a family to know about their struggles during the 2020 lockdown which continues till now. • A father of two children, 36-year-old Ravindra is a garment seller in the bustling community of Dharavi in Mumbai, where he lives with his extended family in a rented apartment. “The Lockdown was really tough for so many of us. I felt broken, because I lost my jobs, and had to take care of my family. We had to survive on the little savings I accumulated over the past few years. But that money was also limited,’’ recalls Ravindra.

Donate online here, worldvision.in. • To help communities during the COVID-19 crisis, World Vision India provided cash transfers of Rs. 1000 for ration support and food baskets to the most vulnerable families so that children could get the nutrition they needed. To make families self-sufficient so that children do not go to bed hungry, World Vision India identified 148 families for the COVID-19 Livelihood recovery project. • Ravindra was one of the beneficiaries of this project. Because of this funding, Ravindra didn’t have to take a loan on high interest to resume his business. It also meant that he could use his savings for his children’s education and other household needs.

People generally buy new clothes during that time. But ever since Corona and the lockdowns, festivals come and go and we don’t even realize it,’’ says Ravindra.
