  1. Kidney problems in dogs Living beings are different in all species but the functioning of the body is similar. The kidneys in a dog’s body balance the nutrients and filter out the waste. The kidney plays an important role in blood pressure, increases red blood cell production, and helps in calcium metabolism. The kidney infection in dogs can be chronic or acute. Causes of acute kidney failure – This is most frequently attributed to dogs ingesting a toxin which can be chemicals like antifreeze, household cleaners, or bad food. Kidney disease also occurs due to the urinary obstruction in the pet’s body. The decrease in the blood flow results from the dog’s kidney being less oxygenated and more prone to infection. Kidney issues– Chronic kidney failure or chronic rental failure means that kidneys stopped working and not making urine, this is not true. Chronic renal failure or chronic kidney disease is the inability of the kidneys to efficiently filter the blood of waste products. With kidney disease in dogs, the urine is produced in large quantities but the body’s toxic

  2. wastes are not being effectively eliminated. The disease can also happen for the following reasons as well - Severe dehydration Heat strokes Snake Bites Leptospirosis (a bacterial infection) Causes of Chronic Kidney Failure Chronic kidney disease is most common in older dogs, and the exact cause is often difficult to pinpoint because of its slow onset. Early symptoms of chronic kidney disease are easily overlooked or dismissed because they are mild. Dental disease is a leading cause of chronic kidney failure in older dogs. Bacteria build up on your dog’s teeth and enter the digestive system when eating and drinking. While your dog’s kidneys are designed to filter waste, bacteria can lessen kidney function over time. Any issue which occurs in the body becomes visible with the changes of behavior and physical. The signs of Kidney Disease in Dogs: Drinking more or less water Change in volume and frequency of urination Loss of interest in playing or interacting

  3. Decreased appetite Vomiting or diarrhea Unexplained weight loss Blood in urine Signs of dental disease like pale gums, smelly breath, mouth ulcers We all want our four-leg kids to be protected throughout their life, for which some easy rules can be followed to prevent Kidney Failure. Keep Your Dog Away From Chemicals Kidney disease doesn’t have to be a problem for your dog. Keep your dog safe by taking preventative measures to ensure they don’t have access to household chemicals and cleaners. It is important to keep in mind that dogs are curious and chewers by nature, so keeping chemicals in a closed cabinet isn’t enough. The cabinet has to be “child-proof” and on a height where it is not easy for them to reach. Avoid Exposure to Medications and Other Harmful Substances

  4. In addition to keeping your dog away from dangerous household cleaners and chemicals, it may also be important to avoid having your pet near medications, food, and other substances. These could include: Raisins Prescription and over-the-counter drugs, like ibuprofen Grapes Contaminated water sources Dental Hygiene Since chronic kidney disease can occur from poor dental hygiene, keeping your dog’s teeth clean is crucial for long- term health. Consult the vet about how often you should have your dog’s teeth cleaned and ask about food and treats that may help with dental hygiene in dogs.
