  2. My background is in agriculture and environmental science, and I have degree in agricultural and environmental science from Edinburgh university and a master’s degree in ‘Nature and society’ from Oxford University. I have worked for 15 years as an environmental consultant on some of the largest renewable energy projects in the world (dams, wind farms etc). This was great for travel, intellectually stimulating and the work has led to many positive impacts. However environmental consultants spend a large amount of time report writing and a disappointingly small amount of time climbing trees and jumping in rivers. I founded A Good Gardener to spend less time at a computer and more time having a direct positive impact on our local flora and fauna, and people’s enjoyment of their gardens.
