  2. Hindu Gods and Goddesses Within Hinduism, a large number of gods are worshipped as murtis. The following slides have information that include some Hindu gods and goddesses.

  3. Shiva and Parvati Shiva is the god known as the destroyer/ transformer. Parvati is Shiva’s first wife wife, who is known as the divine mother. Ganesha and Murugan are their two children. The picture on the right side is Parvati and the left picture is Shiva.

  4. Ganesha and Murugan Ganesha and Murugan are both brothers and their two parents are Shiva and Parvati. Ganesha is a god of the intellect and the remover of obstacles. Murugan is known as the god of war. The left picture is Ganesha. The right picture is Murugan.

  5. Brahma and Saraswati Brahma is the god known as the creator. He has four heads and four arms. Saraswati is Brahma’s wife and is known as the goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts. Brahma is the picture on the left and Saraswati is on the right.

  6. Surya Surya is the god known as the god of sun. Surya is usually pulled on a chariot by horses.
