  1. Most Common Fitness Myths

  2. #1 Stretching is essential for preventing injury Stretching doesn't enhance your range of motion. Some studies suggest that stretching destabilize muscles making it difficult to participate in a strenuous exercise like weight-lifting. Instead of stretching it would be better to participate in a exercise which gets your blood pumping.

  3. #2 Vegetarian diets are more nutritious than meat items Eating veggies are considered healthy. But meat being rich in iron helps in energising the body and fighting infection. Some vegetarian products like lentils, beans, fortified cereals and tofu are rich in iron. But taking eggs, dairy products, etc. is a must for those participating in the exercise.

  4. #3 Lifting weights will make you bulky in appearance Testosterone is essential for increasing muscle size. Men possess twenty to thirty times more testosterone than women. So they can bulk up much easily than women. So for really bulking up, you need to do a lot of weight lifting.

  5. #4 More calories are burnt in cardio than weight training Studies have concluded that more calories are burned during cardio workouts. But in case of strength training, calories burn for longer durations after workout. This is termed as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption.

  6. #5 Crunches and ab workouts will remove belly fat Crunches and ab workouts are not successful in cases where there is excessive fat in the body. So first step should be to reduce the extra fat by doing cardio.
