A Review on Grid Connected PV System

The concept of injecting photovoltaic power into the utility grid has earned widespread acceptance in these days of renewable energy generation and distribution. Grid connected inverters have evolved significantly with high diversity. Efficiency, size, weight, reliability etc. have all improved significantly with the development of modern and innovative inverter configurations and these factors have influenced the cost of producing inverters. This paper presents a literature review of the recent technological developments and trends in the Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems GCPVS . In countries with high penetration of Distributed Generation DG resources, GCPVS have been shown to cause unwanted stress on the electrical grid. A review of the existing and future standards that addresses the technical challenges associated with the growing number of GCPVS is presented. Maximum Power Point Tracking MPPT , Solar Tracking ST and the use of transform less inverters can all lead to high efficiency gains of Photovoltaic PV systems while ensuring minimal interference with the grid. Inverters that support ancillary services like reactive power control, frequency regulation and energy storage are critical for mitigating the challenges caused by the growing adoption of GCPVS. Political influence as a main Livelihood capital addressing climate change impacts of Yaaku Community of Laikipia County

The objective of the study is to try to indicate that political capital is as important as other capitals if not the controller of other capitals. Data from social ecological survey was analysed after entry in to statistical package for social sciences to get the respondents' views of livelihood capitals. The majority of the respondents 58.5 in Yaaku community indicated that politicians addressed issues of climate change in the community, with only 18.3 and 30.8 of them said that climate change issues were addressed by professionals and administrators respectively. However similar respondent of opinion of 45.4 , 35.4 and 17.9 said it was politicians, professionals and administrators who address development issues respectively. The majority 70.4 of the respondents gave their opinion that politicians and other leaders do not understand climate related risks on livelihoods while a small minority 29.6 were on the opinion that the politicians and other leaders understood climate related risks on the livelihoods in pastoral communities. Politicians being the main decision makers on development issues in local set up in developing countries where Kenya is one of them, decisions on climate change and adaption need be discussed and understood by politicians. Therefore policy formulation is needed as from county and national level on how to mainstream politicians in issues of climate change and adaptations. Therefore the politicians were key in addressing the impacts of climate change although they had not known or understood that the impacts are of climate change but either campaign goodies or development agenda. Efficiently Data Analysis and Transmission for consumer using grid computing

Research focuses on the issue of wireless big data computing in smart grid. Smart grid means electrical network architecture is purposed for generating, distributing and administering efficiently the power consumption to end users. First investigate the consistency between the characteristics of big data and smart grid data. A propose a hybrid approach for storage planning, which consists of an outer optimization based on genetic and an inner optimization algorithm for energy scheduling. Propose a big data computing architecture for smart grid, consisting of four main levels data sources, data transmission, data storage, and data analysis. First level, Data Source Level data are generated from different data sources which are distributed, that is, distribution and transmission data, distributed generation data, intelligence application related data, and so on. These data are distributed in different places and managed by different companies departments, which belong to different systems. Next, Data Storage Level data collected from the data sources contain a lot of meaningless information, which does not need to occupy a large amount of storage space. Therefore, the data in a data center may be stored and processed. This level is suitable for the planning of smart grid with low real time demands. Third level, Data Analysis Level Various analytical methods and tools have been utilized to extract value in different application fields. It categorized by two division one is costumer oriented service another one is utility company oriented service. Final level, Data Transmission Level This level builds a bridge among the other three levels and also enables the intra communication within each level. Experimental results indicate that the proposed storage planning scheme significantly reduces the cost for consumers. Assessment of Climate Change Awareness and Risk Perception Among Rural People in Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina S

Climate change has become the dominant topic of discourse among scientists and other stakeholders in climate science in this century. Several researches have been conducted to assess its magnitude, causes, adverse impacts and possible solution to its challenges at various scales where adaptation and mitigation were the fundamental recommendations. While public awareness and perception of the change, are the necessary pre requisites to achieve true adaptation and mitigation, in the context of sustainable development. However, most of the negotiations were made at international level making it Top Down affair with little regard to national dynamics of individual countries. The aim of this research was to assess the level of awareness and risk perception of climate change, among rural people in Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina State, Nigeria. A household questionnaire survey method was used in collecting the primary data from 384 randomly selected respondents, in which 97.7 response rate was recorded. Descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage distribution, mean score and tables were used in analyzing and presenting the data. While Binomial Logistic Regression Analysis was used to ascertain the effect of some socio demographic characteristics of the respondents, on their likelihood of been aware of climate change and perceiving it as a risk. The study revealed that climate change awareness was impressively high 78 of the respondents were aware of it, though with poor knowledge of its causes among the respondents. While majority 73 of the respondents agreed that climate change is a great risk to their individual lives and the society. The study further revealed that, sex, level of educational attainment, and main occupation of the respondents p .005 significantly predicts their level of climate change awareness. But, only level of education and main occupation p .005 significantly predicts risk perception of the adverse change among the respondents. The study then recommended that, the Governments should tailored their climate change policy and programmes, toward educating the rural people, so as to enhance their level of awareness of the scenario for better participation in adaptation and mitigation programmes the Government at both federal and state levels through their relevant agencies, should double their effort in public awareness campaign, especially on causes and the risk associated with climate change to the rural people that, extension agencies should double their efforts in public awareness campaign about climate change and adaptation techniques to especially those engaged in climate sensitive activities and that further study should be conducted to assess adaptive capacity and adaptation strategies adopted among the rural people. Performance Analysis of Wireless Sensor Network in Smart Grid Environment

Wireless Sensor Networks WSNs is a strong candidate for smart grid applications, such as advanced metering infrastructure, demand response management, dynamic pricing, load control, electricity fraud detection, fault diagnostics, substation monitoring and control as well as automation of various elements of the power grid. The realization of these applications directly depends on efficiency of communication facilities among power grid elements. However, the harsh power grid environmental conditions with obstacles, noise, interference, and fading pose great challenges to reliability of these facilities to monitor and control the power grid. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate performance of WSNs in different power grid environments such as 500 kv substations, main power control room, and underground network transformer vaults. The power grid environments are modeled using a log normal shadowing path loss model channel with realistic parameters. The network is simulated and performance is evaluated using packet delivery ratio, communication delay, and energy consumption. The simulation results have revealed that different environments have considerable impacts on performance of WSNs which make it suitable for most applications that need low data rate with low reliability requirements. The Gendered Effects of Climate Variability Change on Fisher Livelihoods and the Coping Strategies Opportunities in Mbit

Global warming influences have brought negative climate change consequences on global livelihoods and household food security of the worldu2019s 36 million fisher folks and nearly 1.5 billion consumers who rely on fish for their dietary animal protein. Past studies have concentrated on climate change influences of marine and oceansu2019 fisher communities they have investigated mainly climate variability and climate change impacts on fish distribution and production. Limited studies have explored the interaction between impacts of climate change on the fishing activities on inland and fresh waters such as in Lake Victoria and the fishersu2019 adaptive activities. The discussion of this article is based on a research which was focused on Mbita location on the shore of Lake Victoria where fishing is main livelihood activity of local community. The study was guided by the following research objectives to Determine the influence of gendered effect of climate change variability on fisher activities among the Mbita and Highlight the current coping strategies and underscore the possible opportunities available to the fishers due to CV CC in Mbita sub county. The study used a constructivist epistemology paradigm and the mixed methods research design to collect and process the findings presented. Yamaneu2019s formula 1964 is used to get the sample size of 388 respondents out of a target of of 13191. Primary data was collected using questionnaires interview schedules for KII and FGDs. Secondary data collection was collected through reviewing of relevant documented information, from fisheries and climate change reports, working documents and related research articles on Mbita for the last 30 years. The validity of the instrument was done through content validity with the supervisors. The instruments were piloted in test retest and data generated processed using computer supported software SPSS Statistical Package for Social Sciences and presented in descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that there was reduced fish catch was statistically significant with a p value of 0.000. The effect of climate change on the loss of life of the fishers is statistically significant with a p value of 0.001 and under the objective on coping strategies the study found that adaptation required transformation of mind set that called for bigger investment which required the collaboration and consultation of entire Mbita community and county government to address environmental and conservative resource utility. The study concluded that lack of alternative livelihood opportunities options is the major constraints to adaptation for people living in the Lake Victoria region escalated with limitation of skills outside fishing industry, limitation of other employable professional skills including lack of capital. The study recommends a trans disciplinary consientization of adaptive strategies which can translate into flexible and sustainable CCA gender inclusive livelihood activities. Future research should explore participatory action research on environmental influences affecting CCA by comparing findings across other beaches.
