Uveitis is the medical name for inflammation of the uvea, the eye's central layer. Between the sclera (white coat of the eye) and the retina is this layer (the back of the eye). The uvea, which is made up of blood arteries that supply the eye, is an important element of the eye. Inflammation in this area of the eye can impact vision as well as other areas of the eye, including the cornea, retina, and sclera.
