  2. Synopsis • Health and Convenience – Finally? • Order Food Online: Benefits to Customers and Restaurant Owners • Saving Time with Online Food Delivery • Ordering Food Online Today vs. Yesterday • What to Look for in Your Food Delivery Service

  3. Health and Convenience – Finally? • The emergence of Whole Foods – which was considerably more expensive – also proves that we are willing to pay MORE for healthy food. Another great example is Juice Press. Founded by Marcus Antebi; this chain offering smoothies, juices, soups, and salads, was able to open an astonishing sixty locations within six years – the majority all in New York City! Considering that New York City is a microcosm of ethnicity, age, and background – it is a testament to the diverse demographic that are all interested in eating healthier and changing their diet to improve their health. Mind you – the products there are not cheap, but the stores are incredibly successful. Even high-profile celebrities with massive social media followings, like GigiHadid, have co-signed the chain. • The start-up world has certainly taken note. Interestingly enough, in our ever-changing world that allows the individual to customize as much as possible – healthy food delivery has emerged in the form of startups such as Blue Apron: where items are delivered to you, all healthy, and tasty (or at least advertised as such) – while you chef up the food to your specificity. In case you thought it was a fluke – Blue Apron has quite the competition in other companies, such as HelloFresh, Plated, and Green Chef. Wall Street even got behind Blue Apron, as it recently had a successful IPO.

  4. Order Food Online: Benefits to Customers and Restaurant Owners Order Food online: Benefits to Customers • It is highly convenient • More people now opt to order food online because of the inconvenience it can provide. Thanks to the technology, that it brought tablets and Smartphone’s. These two gadgets can allow people to order conveniently if they have an internet connection. When you do it online, all you need to do is scan on the internet sumptuous food offerings, click on your order, pay via online payment options (some consider COD or Cash on Delivery) and wait for the food to be delivered right wherever you are. • No misunderstandings • One of the consumer’s greatest frustrations is not getting the food they ordered right. Since you order food online, you need not speak to a live representative as you will place your order by clicking on the food itself, this being the case no misunderstanding or miscommunication will occur. And because the customer has full control of the food he or she wants to order, he or she will never be disappointed.

  5. Order Food Online: Benefits to Customers and Restaurant Owners Order Food Online: Benefits to Restaurant Owners • The service is 24/7 • Even while the restaurant owner is asleep, he or she is still making money. Customers can order food online and schedule them whenever they want, while the store is closed. The store might be close, but their online service is open round the clock, hence giving customers the opportunity to order food online anytime they are free. • And since they can accommodate orders even outside business hours, expect that this can give business owners additional income. • Online menu is a lot easier to manage. It is not only easier but cheaper (or can be free) to maintain and create an online menu. The menu online is very flexible, allowing you to alter information anytime you want.

  6. Saving Time with Online Food Delivery • Never having to leave your home • Not having to buy or assemble ingredients • Allowing you to continue with your regular schedule • Offering a variety of choice – appeals to everyone in the household! • Avoiding crowds and long lines just to be seated • Fixed prices that you can anticipate – no surprises!

  7. Ordering Food Online Today vs. Yesterday • How Much Do You Really Spend? • The most ordered food in America is chicken wings. But when it comes to any other food it varies depending on which state you live in. • In America alone, there are over 30,000 restaurants and over 4 million dinners. According to a study in November 2016, 20% of Americans order their food online at least once a week. An average person will spend anywhere between $16 to $30 on a single order. That adds up to the entire population spending $281.9 billion alone on online ordering. Ordering food online in the past few years has been growing at an incredible 300% faster than dining in alone. Millennials spend about 44% or $2,921 annually. Many people will blame the Millennials for the rise in this percentage, but only a few years ago the baby boomers were spending 40% on their online food ordering. Which equals out to $2,629 annually. In my own opinion, it is the easy access, and convenience of ordering food online that is helping the numbers grow every year.

  8. Ordering Food Online Today vs. Yesterday • Not Just for Restaurants. • Another way that people have been ordering food online is by ordering and buying their home groceries from the store and picking them up ready to go. Some stores will even deliver the groceries to the house which is used by the elderly and disabled. This is because they have a harder time shopping on their own and this gives them some independence especially if they are forced to live on their own. In 2017 31% of Americans order their food online. Sales alone last year were $14.2 billion all together that year. A study showed that by the year 2021 the annual sales might reach $30 billion and by the year 2025 it could even reach $100 billion! Today about a quarter of Americans buys their groceries online. This could raise up to 60% in the next ten years. Last year the online food ordering for groceries was around 20.5 billion.

  9. What to Look for in Your Food Delivery Service • The type of their delivery service • Motorcycle delivery may be limited to the amount of food it can carry; if you are looking at the huge volume of food to be delivered, you surely won’t take the risk of just using a motorcycle for delivery as food may not be presentable the time it reaches your location. It is best if the food delivery service you choose has an available motorcycle and pick up or any vehicle that can carry a huge volume of food safely. • Speed of delivery • Fast delivery is critical especially to a hungry stomach. A food delivery service that can deliver your food the soonest time is a good factor to consider. Waiting is not an option for you and your guests; food should be served right away. Hence the speed of delivery is required.

  10. What to Look for in Your Food Delivery Service • Reliability • If they say they can deliver within an hour or they can accommodate massive volume of orders, they should be able to do so. Being true to what they say is a good indication of food delivery service provider’s professionalism and respect to their customers. • Professional appearance • They are serving food, so it is only fair that their delivery team appears professional and neat. It should not only the arrival of their delivery team but their service vehicle as well. Your food should be handled in the most hygienic and safest way for you and your guest's health and welfare.
