Aerospace Education Mission • To educate both CAP members and the general public on the important role aviation and space has played and will continue to play in America’s future. • To encourage our nation’s youth to consider aerospace careers and to promote civil aviation to local communities.

  4. Aerospace Education • Civil Air Patrol aerospace curriculum and programs support science, math, language arts, reading, history, and technology education, while providing teachers with the tools to teach ordinary subjects in extraordinary ways. • Curriculum meets national academic content standards and addresses STEM (Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Mathematics) initiatives.

Aerospace Education Members(AEMs) • A special category of Civil Air Patrol membership- no rank, uniform, or meeting obligations • Open to any individual or organization that has an interest in promoting Aerospace Education to the youth of our country • $35 membership dues • Membership application can be completed online with a credit card at www.capmembers.com/joinaem

Aerospace Education Excellence Program (AEX) • Free program available to current AEMs • Age-appropriate curriculum for grades K-12 and adult levels • Sign up anytime during the school year • 1 hour of college credit available for a fee from Adams State College • Teacher award plaque and student certificates upon completion • Application and completion forms online in e-services at www.capnhq.gov (follow directions to receive password and access to e-services page)

Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flights • Free orientation flight in CAP airplane! • To participate, contact jstone@capnhq.gov. • Your name and contact information will be given to the TOP Flights Point of Contact (POC) in your area. • The POC will contact you to plan a mutually-agreeable time and date for the flight. • The TOP Flights experience will include an airplane orientation. Full AE workshops are also an option at times. • Flights are more fun with a fellow teacher, so encourage a peer to join CAP and come flying with you!

Aerospace Connections in Education Program (ACE) • Free aerospace-themed program for grades K - 6 • Available to current AEMs • Grade-specific curriculum tied to national academic standards • Lessons divided into 3 categories: academics, character, and physical fitness • Additional information available by clicking “ACE” at http://capmembers.com/ae

  15. Educator Grants • $250 Grants for AEMs to conduct aerospace projects that support STEM initiatives • Sponsored for CAP by the Air Force Association • Two grant cycles per year: --March 31 --September 30 • Applications and report forms found at www.capmembers.com/ae

  18. Historic Teacher Award A. SCOTT CROSSFIELD AEROSPACE EDUCATION TEACHER OF THE YEAR • Award initiated by CAP in 1986 and now presented by the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) • Continues the legacy of famed test pilot, A.
