  1. The Early Church Prayed Together • Acts 4:24-31 – After Peter And John Were Released From The Sanhedrin. • Acts 12:5 – The Church “Earnestly Prayed" For Peter While In Prison. (Note v.12) • Acts 20:36 – Prayed When Paul Was About To Leave The Ephesian Elders. • Colossians 4:2 – “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”

The Early Church Prayed Together • Philippians 4:6 – “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” • Ephesians 6:17,18 “and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints;” • 2 Corinthians 9:14 - The Jerusalem Christians Praying For The Church At Corinth, Especially Concerning Their Liberality.

  4. How Must We Pray In The Assembly? • Prayers Must Be Uttered In Harmony With God’s Will (Note: Jesus Matthew 26:42) • Prayers In Mixed Assemblies Should Be Led By Males (Note: 1 Corinthians 14, 1 Tim. 2) • Prayers Should Not Be Seen As Beginning And Ending Marks For An Assembly

Some Practical Suggestions Concerning Prayer In The Assembly • Prayers Should Be Planned • Incorporate Last Minute Things • Avoid Vain Repetition • Never Address The Assembly In Prayer • Avoid Phrases Used Over And Over • Make Prayers Personal, Yet What We All Can Pray • Congregation Should Pray While Leader Prays • Avoid Directing Prayer To Jesus In The Assembly • Should Always Be “In Jesus’ Name” John 14-16
