  1. Sumatriptan- An oldest drug in the Triptan class - Pharmaffiliates Analytics and Synthetics Pvt. Ltd. A family of tryptamine-based drugs used in treating migraine and cluster headaches is termed as Triptans. Triptans exhibits agonist effect towards Serotonin 5-HT1Band 5-HT1D receptors in blood vessels hence causing their constriction. There are seven different types of Triptans available in the market. Sumatriptan is a selective agonist at serotonin 5-HT1-like receptors, including 5-HT1B/1D subtypes and is effective treatment for acute migraine attacks.
