License & Cotos • Libre: Free waters that don't require a special permit.   • Cotos: Restricted waters that do require a permit (usually awarded through a lottery system).  Really geared toward the locals and long term resident types.  • Intensivos Fisheries: A permit for intensivos can by purchased in a local pub or a shop near the water (river or lake).

  4. The region Navarra • Rio Irati – Made famous by Don Ernesto Hemingway. The Irati tumbles out of the steep Pyrenees through the majestic beech and fir trees Twisting its way past Basque villages

  5. Like everywhere, the river is divided in stretches of restricted access ("cotos"), free access stretches, (free for anglers bearing a license), and stretches where no fishing is allowed. There is one famous "coto" on the Irati. Getting a ticket without local acquaintances would be hopeless, however GourmetFly can usually cope with this issue and get you access.
