Pneumonia is a disease that causes lung contamination occurring in one or both the lungs caused by bacterial organisms, viruses, or fungi; bacterial pneumonia is the most common in adults. Pneumonia results in irritation around the u2018sacsu2019 also known as alveoli of the lungs, which causes the alveoli to fill with pus, as a result causing breathing issues. What is Pneumonia Vaccine? • Pneumonia is a disease that causes lung contamination occurring in one or both the lungs caused by bacterial organisms, viruses, or fungi; bacterial pneumonia is the most common in adults. Pneumonia results in irritation around the ‘sacs’ also known as alveoli of the lungs, which causes the alveoli to fill with pus, as a result causing breathing issues. Pneumococcal diseases are most common in younger children; however, adults and elderly population are more prone to pneumococcal contaminations and even death. Pneumonia vaccines are primarily given to the children less than 2 years and adults 65 years and older. In general, vaccines are given at 2,4,6, and 12 thought 15 months old for children; and single dose will be given for the adults aged 65 years and older. These vaccines help providing immunization against 13 types of pneumococcal bacteria that cause infection in the lungs.
