  2. What Is VoIP? • The development of the Internet has brought a revolutionary change in the communication sector. It has made difficult tasks simple and seamless. Initially, one needed to connect to a telephone operator to talk, but now one just needs to connect to the internet to call anybody one want. It is possible due to VoIP technology. Voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) phone systems convert voice into digital signals, allowing you to make calls directly from mobile devices, tablets, and computers. The VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology isn’t a new concept and has been around for some time. Whenever we use Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other popular apps and services we all use VoIP technology. Even if we make a simple call over the internet, we use VoIP technology. The best feature of  VoIP technology is that you aren’t bound to a specific desk. You can use a VoIP phone number via a business phone app to turn your computer or any mobile device into a phone.

  3. How Can You Make Calls Using VoIP? • ATA: ATA stands for analog telephone adapter. The ATA allows you to connect a standard phone to your computer or your Internet connection for use with a VoIP network • IP Phones: In simple words, IP phones include desk phones, cordless phones, and conference phones that resemble your everyday office phone but use a different technology for powering calls.  • VoIP Mobile Phones: VoIP Mobile Phones are an efficient, low-cost way to communicate using your cell phone and the services provided by your home or business VoIP provider.

  4. A Brief History Of VoIP • Although the Voice over Internet Protocol, or as we generally know VoIP, is a fairly recent technology, yet, it was not until the mid-’90s before it was introduced to the general public. In the year 1996, the first voice-over-internet protocol VoIP system was introduced. During that time, it served as a workaround for long-distance and international telephone charges. In the late 1990s, PBX systems got integrated into VoIP. The government also started regulating VoIP communication. In the late 1990s, skype was born that made instant audio and video conferencing possible. Despite some initial setbacks on launch, VoIP became more popular and by 2003 increased to 25% or ¼ of all voice calls made, of which this number has steadily been increasing in the decade that has passed. At present, there has been an increase in VoIP popularity amongst businesses and individuals. With VoIP, the companies report an average of 20% rise in productivity. Today it has transformed the way we connect, interact, and communicate.

  5. How Does VoIP Work? • A VoIP phone works according to the following steps: • When a VoIP phone receives digital data from another device, it splits the data into information packets and puts a destination address on each packet. • The converted data is then sent over your broadband line to your router. • Once the router has received the data, it finds the shortest path to its destination. The packet might pass through multiple routers to optimize the final route. • The packet is then received at the destination. • The receiving VoIP phone then uses the addresses for each packet to put the packets in the correct order. • The VoIP user then receives the data as recognizable speech.

  6. Benefits Of VoIP • There are many benefits of VoIP for residential and small office/home office users. • Lower costs • Increased accessibility • Complete portability • Higher scalability • Advanced features for small and large teams • Clearer voice quality • Supports multitasking • More flexibility with softphones
