  1. Pet’s shoes make walks easy

  2. Your dog is a part of your family, and making a decision to give it up just because you are moving out can be heartbreaking. So, why not take your pet along?

  3. Moving out into a new city along with your pet might be one of most stressful decisions to tackle. In the chaos of packing, heavy lifting and other things, most of us don’t realize how a move might affect our pets. We never consider that just as much as we do, even they feel stressed. • Before you pick out your dream home, ensure that your pet will love it as much as you do. It might be a good idea to walk around the neighborhood to determine whether the area seems secure for your pets. Not many pets spend much time in crates or cars. But in the weeks or months leading up to the big trip, you can prepare your pets by steadily acclimating them to certain accessories for dogslike crates, to get them used to the travelling. This will make your moving day a lot easier.

  4. Also, along with packing up all your pet’s essentials such as dog booties, toys, carriers etc., make sure you carry their medication. It is advisable to carry at least one week’s worth of food along, in case of any emergency. Most pets don’t eat or drink in a moving car. Hence if you have a cat, it is not necessary to offer water and food to her for a trip that is under eight hours. However for dogs, plenty of water and light meals should be enough.

  5. When you arrive at your new home, a new and unfamiliar space can be overwhelming to your pets. You can begin with allowing them to adjust in the home by giving a space for their shoes, toys, treats and food bowls. Once they feel comfortable, gradually introduce them to other rooms in the house. Also remember to keep all external doors and windows closed when your pet is unsupervised. Make sure to update your pet’s tags and microchip with your new address and phone number

  6. Once you find a new veterinarian near your new house, ask if there are any local health concerns such as Lyme disease or heartworm, or any vaccinations that your pet may require. • If you follow these simple tips, your pet should settle into their new home in no time. All it takes is keeping a few things in mind to reduce your pet’s stress and anxiety throughout the process!
