  3. 5S SORT Proper arrangement (Seiri) • Sort through , then sort out • Sort through what you have ,identify what you need and discard what is unnecessary

  4. 5S STORE Cleanliness (Seiton) • Set things in order • Assign a separate location for all essential items • Make space explanatory so that every one knows what goes where

  5. 5S SHINE Cleanliness (Seiso) • Clean equipment, tools and workplace • Keep the workplace spotless at all times

  6. 5S SERENE ATMOSPHERE Cleanup (Sieketsu) • Maintain equipment and tools • Keep the workplace clean

  7. STICK TO SELF DISCIPLINE 5S Discipline (Shitsuke) • Stick to rules scrupulously • Make them a habit

Advantages of 5 S By thoroughly enforcing 5 S in workplace in each work area • Operations can be performed without error, proceeding in a well regularised fashion, resulting in fewer defective items thereby increasing to overall quality of product • Operations can be performed safely and comfortable reducing the chance of accidents • Machinery and equipment can be carefully maintained reducing the number of break downs • Operations can be performed efficiently , eliminating waste thereby increasing the efficiency and productivity

  9. How to achieve 5 S 5 S can be achieved very easily by every employee by having clopse look at his workplace. He is to ensure that • No rejected / unwanted items are lying at his workplace • All items are kept in proper locations / order • Every body should co-operate with each other in keeping his and other’s area and the machines clean • Follow the rules and regulations and maintain required attendants
