Here are some tips that will help you better understand the industry and successfully be part of it: 1. It is much more than parties and press releases Ask the young minds seeking jobs in industry: What is Public Relations? And, there is this general misconception prevailing in the minds of almost all of them that the profession is all about planning a party, or writing press releases, or talking to the media. Yes, these activities are surely part of this profession, but they are surely not the only things to do in a public relations career. From digital marketing to strategic planning skills, from understanding the need for true community engagement to grasping the importance of internal communications, etc. are some of the skills that will help you grow in the PR industry without much resistance. 2.
