PTE Academic Exam Changes – August 2025 Update Introduction Pearson has officially changed the PTE Academic exam format starting from August 7, 2025. These changes include new tasks, updated scoring methods, and a stronger focus on content relevance. At Vision Language Experts, our PTE Coaching programs ensure you stay fully updated with the latest strategies. 1. Major Scoring Change – Content Relevance For open interpretation tasks (e.g., Describe Image, Retell Lecture, Summarize Group Discussion, Writing Summary, Essay), scoring has changed. Step 1: AI first checks whether your response is relevant. Step 2:If content is irrelevant → you get zero marks for that question. Step 3: Only if content is relevant, the response is then scored by AI and possibly reviewed by a human examiner. ? Our PTE Online Coaching focuses on content-based strategies so you never lose marks because of outdated templates. 2. New Task Type – Summarize Group Discussion Appears at the end of the Speaking section, after Short Answer Questions.
Contributes marks to both Speaking and Listening. Task Format: You hear a group conversation (2–4 speakers). You get 10 seconds to prepare. You have up to 2 minutes to speak your summary. ✅ In our PTE Coaching Online classes, we train students to quickly note key ideas per speaker and convert them into fluent, structured summaries. 3. New Task Type – Respond to a Situation Final question in the Speaking section. Does not affect Listening – only Speaking marks. Task Format: You hear a situation prompt (with accompanying text). You must respond in first person within 40 seconds. Sample Answer: “Hi everyone, I’m happy to design the slides. Could you please send me all the required information before this weekend, so I can include everything on time? Thanks!” ? With our PTE Coaching Classes, you’ll practice real-life situation prompts daily to build confidence and fluency. 4. Fluency & Linking Tips Oral fluency is more important than grammar. Imagine your speech as a heartbeat monitor → keep it flowing without “flat lines” (long pauses). Use sentence starters: o“Firstly, the speaker mentioned…” o“Furthermore, another idea was…” o“Finally, the discussion concluded with…” Our PTE Coaching ensures you master oral fluency techniques that boost your overall Speaking score. 5. Example: Summarize Group Discussion Topic: University accommodation choices.
Speaker 1:Preferred university halls → all-inclusive, no bills, and chance to meet new people. Speaker 2:Concerned about lack of control → doesn’t want noisy/messy flatmates, prefers renting a flat. Speaker 3: Chose private accommodation → more independence, willing to travel, values space and quiet. Summary Answer: “The conversation was about university accommodation. The first speaker favored living in halls due to convenience and social opportunities. The second speaker preferred renting privately to avoid noise and have more control. The third speaker chose private housing for independence, flexibility, and space, even if it required commuting. Overall, the students had different preferences based on lifestyle and priorities.” 6. Final Notes Old templates won’t work anymore. Pearson checks relevance strictly. Summarize Group Discussion = marks in Speaking + Listening. Respond to a Situation = marks in Speaking only. Oral fluency remains the #1 scoring factor. Always adapt to the latest strategies, not outdated methods. ✅ Join our PTE Online Coaching today and prepare with PTE Coaching Classes that guarantee updated strategies for the August 2025 PTE changes.
