Karachi Literature Festival “Karachi is a difficult city to live in, which makes it a very easy city to write about.” Karachi Literature Festival had been conceived by the lovely Sabeen Mahmud of Peace Niche, and then Ameena Saiyid of Oxford University Press (OUP) and the British Council took the idea and turned it into a reality. Organizers It is jointly organized by Oxford University Press, Pakistan and British Council. Format of Event The festival includes a vibrant program of talks, interviews, panel discussions, readings, book launches, English poetry readings, Urdu mushaira (poetic symposium), Sindhi mushaira, stand-up comedy, author signings, performing arts, film screenings, open mic, book fair, and literary awards ceremony. KLF 2010: 1st March: 20 & 21 34 sessions with 58 speakers/performers 5,000 attendees KLF 2011: 2nd February: 5 & 6 46 sessions with 104 speakers/performers 10,000 attendees KLF 2012: 3rd February: 11 & 12 62 sessions with 139 speakers/performers 15,000 attendees
