  1. Gastro cream chargers, also known as whipped cream chargers or Nangs, are metal cylinders that are filled with nitrous oxide gas under high pressure inside. At present, it is extensively used in bakeries, cafes, and ice cream stores because of its convenience, affordability, and ability to enhance the taste of the cream. But, despite its many benefits, there are concerns about its safety. In this PPT, we will discuss the various risks related to Nangs and how to ensure their safe use of it. Is Cream Charger (Nang) Safe?

  2. Safety risks associated with using Nangs • All the safety risks associated with the use of nangs are long-term risks. In other words, nangs are only risky for those who come into direct contact with them or stay in contact with them for a long time. This is not usually the case for the commercial use of nangs in cream chargers, especially because the nitrous oxide remains inside dispensers. • Dizziness • Cold Burns • Reproductive and Neurological Issues • Addiction

  3. How to use ice cream chargers safely? • The use of nangs is very beneficial for many reasons, especially when it comes to whipped cream chargers, so it is possible to partially avoid it. However, it is possible to reduce the risks associated with it to a great extent. Here are the precautions that should be taken: • Ensure that the area where you use whipped cream chargers is fully ventilated to prevent gas buildup and allow for more oxygen. • Use protective gloves or a piece of cloth when dealing with whipped cream chargers to avoid coming in direct contact with them. • When attaching the charger to the dispenser, do not attach it too tightly. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions word by word when installing the charger to avoid any accidents. • Store the charger in cool, dry, and dark places away from any sunlight or heat to avoid unwanted chemical reactions. • Keep it out of reach of children. • Avoid direct inhalation of nitrous oxide when using the dispenser. Wear a mask if you have to. • Regularly check the dispenser for faults because a faulty dispenser may explode and cause a huge accident.

  4. Is it legal to use whipped cream chargers? • The laws related to nangs can vary in different parts of the world. Under the Australian Consumers Law, the selling and use of whipped cream chargers containing nitrous oxide is fully legal. However, the distribution of it for recreational or any other purposes except commercial or medicinal is illegal under the New South Wales Law. However, enforcement of the law is difficult due to the need for more legislation. Under the Controlled Substances (Poisons) (Nitrous Oxide) Variation Regulations 2019, the supply of the drug to minors and making it accessible to the public via retail stores is also illegal.
