He promised to repay the money in a few months, when a particular investment matured. Instead, he got a high-paying job and moved to another city far away and eventually married someone else, someone quite wealthy. She never saw a penny of her savings returned. This was her karma--to experience being destitute when the other person could easily have helped her out and callously did not. This is an example of
