  2. INTRODUCTION Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Bengaluru FC, also referred to as BFC, is a professional football team. Owned by the JSW Group, the club was founded in 2013 and has since grown to become one of India's most popular and successful football clubs. Bengaluru FC, which plays in the Indian Super League (ISL), is renowned for its dedication to the advancement of Indian football, fervent fan base, and professionalism. The I-League, ISL, Federation Cup, and Super Cup are among the key trophies the team has won. Bengaluru FC has established high standards on and off the field, led by standout players like Sunil Chhetri.

Based on prosperous European clubs, it was among the first teams in India to be run professionally. BFC became the first team to win the I-League title in their inaugural season (2013–14), which was a historic accomplishment. Ashley Westwood, the team's coach, established the team's tactical and methodical style of play. They won their second I-League championship in 2015–16 and the Federation Cup in 2015, further solidifying their success.

The team demonstrated its superiority early on by winning the I-League title twice, first in their debut season in 2013–14 and again in the 2015–16 season. In cup tournaments, BFC has won the Super Cup in 2018 after winning the Federation Cup thrice, in 2015 and 2017. They made a spectacular transition to the Indian Super League (ISL), winning the ISL championship in the 2018–19 season after making it to the final in their first season (2017–18). In 2016, Bengaluru FC made history by being the first Indian team to advance to the final of the AFC Cup, Asia's second-tier continental competition.
