Africa: Is it a country?. No! No! No!. It is a huge continent with 54 countries that are part of it! C’mon…let’s go there so you can see!. In what general direction do we go to get there from here?. North. South. East. West. Yes! Good job!.

  3. It is a huge continentwith 54 countries that are part of it!C’mon…let’s go there so you can see!

  4. In what general direction do we go to get there from here? North South East West

  5. Yes! Good job!

  6. Do you know the names of any of the countries in Africa?

  7. Morocco Egypt Djibouti Nigeria Ethiopia D.R. of the Congo Rwanda You might recognize some of these? Angola Madagascar South Africa

  8. Since there are so many countries in Africa, do you think the landscape of all of Africa looks the same?Let’s take a look.

  9. There is much variety…

  10. The Sahara Desert stretches across the northern part of the continent

  11. The Sahel is a moderate region between the hot desert lands of the north and the wet rain forests at the Equator

  12. The Congo Rainforest is located across a few countries on the Equator

  13. The Serengeti Plains are found in some countries in the eastern part of the continent…people often go here on safaris

  14. The land is also mountainous. In Tanzania is Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in all of Africa.

  15. The great changes in elevation throughout the countries of Africa cause many rivers to have waterfalls, like here, Victoria Falls

  16. Almost all the countries of Africa have some coastline… The coast of South Africa is a busy, urban area

  17. After seeing the variety in the physical geography of Africa’s countries, what do you think people in Africa’s countries are like?

  18. YEP! You guessed it! There is much variety as you travel through the countries. People come in many shades, wear many different kinds of clothes, and speak over 200 languages!

  21. Some people do still wear traditional clothing such as the Massai in Kenya

  22. Africans dress is modern clothes too. Here are some AfroPop stars who won an award.

  23. A South African Olympiad… Yes, there are white people in parts of Africa too! Especially the country of South Africa

  24. So the next time you dream of going to Africa, remember it is a huge continent, so GET SPECIFIC! Recognize the diversity of Africa’s many countries. Which country would you most want to visit?

  25. Now, get out a piece of paper and tell me in your own words what you learned about Africa today.
