Whose cars are the most efficient? • What would students think about altering Campus Automobile Policy?

  3. Fossil Fuels and the Environment • Energy-related activities and automobile use are the primary sources of U.S. man-made greenhouse gas emissions, representing about 85 percent of the U.S. man-made total carbon-equivalent emissions in 1998.

Conclusions • Although students seem to be aware of the negative affects of the use of fossil fuels, few seem to be willing to alter their current mode of transportation. • As a whole, the Rhodes community drives fuel inefficient cars; but there are significant numbers of fuel efficient vehicles on campus. • Hybrid cars are becoming a more and more attractive option due to a number of incentives and their increasing use on campus would not only be a positive influence on the community as a whole, but would actually save money in the long run.
