About the project 01 02 03 Objectives Promoting community engagement and youth participation in Stratoni. Duration 1 month From 13th of May to 13th of June. Organizations Hosting organization: AristoTales (Greece). Coordinating organization: FRSP (Poland).
This project aimed to support the small community of Stratoni in the Aristotelis Municipality of Halkidiki, by fostering youth participation and community engagement through sports, non-formal education, and intercultural events. As volunteers, we were actively involved in organizing creative activities for children, sports tournaments, cultural initiatives, and promotional media content to enhance social inclusion and local visibility.
ACTIVITIES Walking the dogs We supported the local veterinary clinic and walked the village’s stray dogs every morning.
ACTIVITIES Painting & Planting Flowers One volunteer had the wonderful idea of adding flowers and painting some designs to decorate the boat in the Seahorse Park.
ACTIVITIES Clean up of the Seahorse Park and the Port We were asked to pick up the trash in the Seahorse Park and clean up the flower beds near the port to get them ready for summer.
ACTIVITIES Playing with kids in the KDAP Every Tuesday and Thursday, we went to the KDAP to play with the local kids and support them in their daily activities, such as playing football, basketball, drawing, and painting.
EUROPEAN NIGHT One night, we organized a European dinner for all the villagers, where we prepared typical dishes from our countries and played international music.
KIDS SPORTS FEST We organized a sport event for the local kids where we played basketball, football and volleyball. MOVIE NIGHT During the triathlon, we screened the movie Space Jam for everyone who wanted to join and prepared popcorn, which we handed out to the audience.
TRIATHLON We had the opportunity to join the town's triathlon as volunteers. It was an amazing weekend during which we helped by giving instructions to the athletes, handing out water and food during the race, and distributing small gifts to the spectators.
Sightseeing in our free time During our days off, we had the chance to explore the area and enjoy being tourists. Some of us stayed in Halkidiki and visited places like Ouranoupolis, Ammouliani Island, and Olympiada. Others traveled farther, going to destinations such as Skopje in North Macedonia, Athens, and Crete. ATHENS SKOPJE AMMOULIANI
This project taught us how meaningful it is to connect with people from different backgrounds and work together for a shared purpose. It pushed us out of our comfort zones, helped us grow more confident, and reminded us of the impact we can have - both on a community and on ourselves. We are very thankful for having participated and will cherish the memories forever.
