A high intensity light beam of a single wavelength is focused on to the work piece, thus cutting off the unwanted material. It may be bounced in different directions by several mirrors, or “beam benders”, before it is finally focused onto the work piece through a nozzle. Laser Cutting in London has been immensely popular with ‘n’ number of firms providing this service. From decorative items to architectural models maker and from acrylic to metals, laser cutting is popular option for traditional stamping. While this method promises precision and accuracy in manufacturing, there are things which, one must consider for making this process better. Know your Material – Materials are characterized by their properties. This is the reason that same parameters cannot be used for operating on various materials. For example – Wood is full of voids and irregularities whereas plywood is consistent with the texture. Naturally, wood is more critical to cut that plywood. Similarly, acrylic and glass have different properties in terms of weight, strength, insulation and scratch resistance. So, the laser parameters such as speed, frequency and power for acrylic are different than that of Glass. One must choose the material wisely as similar appearing materials can produce different output when operated under different conditions Know your Machine – One needs to know the pros and cons of using different types of laser cutting machines, considering the desired output. Broadly, there are three types

  2. 1. Moving object Machines – Laser beam is steady, but the object is clamped on a mobile surface which moves along relative to the beam to get the desired shape. It is advantageous as the gap between beam and object remains same. But if you are targeting a faster production, then you might be disappointed with the relatively slow pace of this machines 2. Flying Optics Machine – Contrary to the previous machine, it incorporates a moving beam and a stationary object. If you are targeting a faster production, go for this machine. Caution advised for constant change in the distance between the object and laser beam. 3. Hybrid Configuration Machines – Knowing the pros and cons of above two machines, this is the best suited option with a combination of above two to produce optimum output. Know your Method –Few most popular methods are as below Type Vaporization Cutting Fusion Cutting Thermal Stress Cracking Reactive Cutting Suitable for Carbon, Wood and Thermoset Plastics Metals Glass Thick Steel Plates In addition to the above method, one must choose the type of laser to be used. There are three major types of laser 1. CO2 laser – Widely used for engraving, cutting and boring. 2. The neodymium (Nd) laser – Used if high energy and low repetition are required. 3. The neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd-YAG) laser– Same as Nd laser when it comes to style but Nd- YAG is used for boring and engraving where high power is needed. To sum up, a lethal combination of Material, Machine and Method is a must have tool for efficient and effective output of Laser Cutting. Original Source: laser cutting services London
