Institute of Mathematics and InformaticsBulgarian Academy of Sciencehttp://www.math.bas.bg • Type: Governmental research organization • Staff: total - 212 persons; 182 of them - researchers • Main activities: • Research in multiple areas of mathematics and informatics • Implementing of methods developed • MSc and PhD programs • Research in the field of the education of mathematics and informatics • Experience in international projects: 35 international joint projects, contracts with Open Society, NSF(USA), UNESCO

Oriahovitsa townhttp://www.gelesoft.com • Status: Municipality secondary general school • Students: 1330 students from 1 to 12 grades and kindergarten at present • Staff: 114 teachers (99 of them with Master degree) • Profiles: Foreign languages; Science, Math & Informatics; Arts; Music; Information Technologies • Facilities: 3 computer labs - Internet access; 6 studios for arts; 8 concert rooms; 2 sport halls and others • Included in the program “National ICT Strategy on Education” • Awards: Government medal “Cyrilus and Methodius”

Technical School of Electronics, Sofiahttp://www.minedu.government.bg/te/index.htm • Status: Government vocational school • Students: admission - after 7th or 8th grades; 4 or 5 years duration; over 4,500 technicians have graduated since 1968; 700 students at present • Vocations: in the field of Electronics and Computer science • Facilities: 5 computer labs - Internet access; electronic library • Projects: 8 projects under the Socrates, Leonardo, Phare, foundation “Robert Bosch”-Stuttgart, etc; Euroclub - associated to the National Association of Bulgarian Euroclubs • Awards: 2 students are awarded by the Minister of Education and Science with diploma as young talents • Others: Students from the school support the web-site of the Ministry of Education and Science

School of Science &MathSliven town • Status: Municipality general secondary school • History: established in 1835 with national importance on education and culture • Students: admission -after 7th grades; 890 students at present • Profiles: Biology with French/German; Mathematics with English; Informatics with English; Geography with French - one subject is taught in foreign language • Facilities: computer lab; Internet access; web page • Projects: 1 project financed by Japan foundation “Jica”

School of Economy Informatics Targowishte towne-mail: tii@tg-bia-bg.com • Status: Government vocational school • Students: admission after 7th or 8th grades; 560 students at present; • 95 % of students continue in higher education • Staff: 36 teachers; 19 of them have postgraduate degree • Vocations: IT; Banking, Insurance & Social Security; Trade Management & Financing; Book-keeping; Economy informatics • Facilities: 3 computer labs - Internet access • Projects: 2 projects, supported by Phare program and Denmark

  7. 151 School, Sofia151_soupi@dir.bg • Type: Municipality general secondary school • Students: 1700 students from 1st to 12th grades; 90 % continue to higher education • Staff: 150 teachers; 148 of them have Master degree • Profiles (13): Fashion design; Ceramics; Textiles; National & international law; Tourism; Information Technologies; Management; Journalist, Theater, etc. Intensive learning of foreign languages • Facilities: 8 computer labs; Internet access; web page; TV studio; art studios; fitness center; theater hall, etc. • Projects: 2 projects, supported by the Found of Regional Enterprises and a petroleum company • Achievements: participation in national teams on rugby, aerobic, skating & diving; fashion design awards.

Veliko Tarnowowww.stapvt.dir.bg • Type: Government vocational secondary school • Students: admission - after 7th or 8th grades; • Staff: • Vocations:Building and Architecture • Facilities: 1 computer lab with Internet access, sport facilities • Projects:2 projects - Leonardo and Socrates; multimedia (presentations of prominent scientists)
