Global Shelter Sector Preparedness ____________________________ EMERGENCY SHELTER CLUSTER : Key Things to Know • Designated Global Cluster Lead: • UNHCR leads the Emergency Shelter Cluster in the area of conflict generated IDPs. • IFRC is convener of the Emergency Shelter Cluster in natural disasters. • At the global level, the Emergency Shelter Cluster is co-chaired by UNHCR and IFRC.

Global Shelter Sector Preparedness ____________________________ EMERGENCY SHELTER CLUSTER : Key Things to Know • Main partners at the global level: • IOM, UN-HABITAT, OCHA, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, NRC, OXFAM, Care International, Shelter Centre and RedR. • Main partners at the local level: • Local and National Governments, IOM, UN-HABITAT, OCHA, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, NRC, OXFAM, Care International and any NGO involved in Emergency Shelter.

Global Shelter Sector Preparedness ____________________________ EMERGENCY SHELTER CLUSTER : Key Things to Know • Support and tools provided to the ESC cluster in the field include: • Training for Emergency Shelter Coordinators and Technical Experts • Surge capacity of Shelter Coordinators and Technical Experts • Stockpiles of shelter material and NFIs. • Tools for Emergency Shelter including standard setting, guidelines for climatic variations, early warning/risk mapping, early recovery needs and assessments, and environmental impact.

Global Shelter Sector Preparedness ____________________________ EMERGENCY SHELTER CLUSTER : Key Things to Know • At the field level, it is especially important that the Emergency Shelter Cluster works closely with other clusters/sector groups to have the desired impact: • Water and sanitation (WASH) • Camp Coordination & Camp Management • Early Recovery • Logistics • Protection
