OBJECTIVES OF THE LEKKI FREE TRADE ZONE PROJECT • To fully utilize the investment, business and tourism potential of Lagos State, an initiative was taken to establish the Lekki Free Trade Zone • To create a model city/mega-industrial city to cater for the increasing commercial and social activities in Lagos State which holds a tenth of Nigeria’s population of 140million • To develop an overseas economic zone as a global business paradise to attract international and local investments, through trade and export promotion • Creating and encouraging backward images and integration with foreign partners • To create an economic platform to facilitate the inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of; • Effective and efficient Technology • Capital • Information Technology • Knowledge base

  3. Situated on a land area of 16,500 hectares, Lekki Free Trade Zone is located in the Lekki Peninsula, southwest of Lagos, Nigeria. It is bordered on the South by the Atlantic Ocean and, on the North by Lekki lagoon. The Ibeju-Lekki area is a new city under development in Lagos State, with an annual economic growth rate at 16.8%. The Lekki Free Trade Zone is to thrive in production, manufacturing, processing, sales, import & export trade. ABOUT LAGOS • Lagos is the economic, financial and trade hub of Nigeria and West Africa. • Located in the southwest of Nigeria and along the Atlantic Ocean, covering an area of 3,345 square kilometres and has a coastal line of 200 kilometres. • Population of over 13million people: • Classified as one of the “Mega-polis” of the world, and certainly one of the metropolitans equal to the size of Sao Paulo in Brazil, and Bangkok in Thailand. • Accommodates over 95% of financial institutions in Nigeria, and most multinationals operating in Nigeria • About 60% of Nigeria’s industrial and commercial establishments are based in Lagos • Accounts for 90% of Nigeria’s foreign trade, • Accounts for 80% of total imports, and 70% of industrial investments in Nigeria. • Commerce remains the hallmark of Lagos, with the potential to transform the development of the whole West African sub-region, thus this gives the impetus to establish the Lekki Free Trade Zone, a regional economic necessity in the most boisterous and economically active city in West Africa.

OUR INVESTMENT STRATEGY: Ensuring the co-ordination of a strategic development pattern, through building a sustainable partnership with investors, project developers and financiers to realize the investment potentials of the Lekki Free Trade Zone; Enter into separate joint venture agreements with other local or international companies’ enterprises to facilitate development of the Lekki Free Trade Zone; LWIL will make investments of its own within the zone, and acquire and develop property for profit within the zone; To engage from time to time in other business ventures as may be considered profitable; OUR INVESTMENT FOCUS AT LWIL: The focus at LWIL is to create a dynamic environment which guarantees safety of investments vis-à-vis adequate returns on investment, in a socially responsible way beneficial to all stakeholders. PREFERENTIAL POLICIES AND INCENTIVES TO INVESTORS • 100% foreign ownership of investment and joint venture entities allowed in the zone • 100% repatriation of capital, profits and dividends out of Nigeria • Import or export licenses not required by enterprises operating in the Zone • Customs duty-free and no quota restriction for all imported raw material products, machinery & equipment, consumer goods as well as any other goods for investment projects in the zone • No strikes and lock-outs permitted in the Zone

PREFERENTIAL POLICIES AND INCENTIVES TO INVESTORS • 100% of the finished products manufactured, assembled or produced in the zone can be sold into the Nigerian domestic market • Exemption from all taxes, customs duties and levies from the Federal, state and Local governments on raw-materials imported into the zone • No quota on products exported from Lekki Free Trade Zone to the European Union or the United States • Goods manufactured in Nigeria are entitled to preferential tariffs in the EU, as Nigeria is a member country of the Lome convention
