CONSERVATION • In short, CONSERVATION means using optimum energy for carrying out a specific work without affecting the quality of work. • ENERGY CONSERVATION is an objective to which every citizen can contribute whether it is a household, factory, agriculture, transport or a shop. • Since the energy consumption per capita in our country is very low, only small efforts by many will make a real impact, rather than big efforts by a few.   20. THE FIRST STEP FOR CONSERVATION OF LPG IS TO 1. Note down the date of installation/use of the cylinder.2. Note down the date of completion of cylinder. 3. Calculate the number of days of use.4.   37. LIGHTING • Lights and fans consume major part of the energy used in our houses. Increasing lighting efficiency proper ventilation is one of the fastest ways to reduce power bills. • Use maximum Natural Light & Ventilation. • Use CFL’s or T5 Fluorescent Tube Lights (energy efficient) SAVE ENERGY CONSERVE ENERGY

  39. REFRIGERATOR 1. Consumes about 2 kwh every day. Take extra care to generate energy savings. 2. Place 6 to 12” from the wall. 3. Place it in a cool area. 4. Clean coils from dust. 5. Open door to the minimum 6. Do not open the door frequently. Saves Cooling 7. Defrost as soon as 1 cm thick ice is formed. 8. Place items when they attain ambient temperature. 9.   40. MICROWAVE OVEN • Always use the Oven to its full capacity. Plan accordingly. • Load & unload the Oven as quickly as possible to avoid heat loss. • A microwave is an energy efficient appliance as it requires less time to cook/reheat. • Always switch of the Microwave from the mains after use.   41. PHANTOM LOAD • ANY HOUSEHOLD APPLIANACE THAT HAS A CLOCK, TIMER, MEMORY OR REMOTE IS CONSUMING ELECTRICITY, EVEN IF ITS TURNED OFF LIKE THE MICROWAVE OVEN • REMEMBER TO SWITCH OFF SUCH APPLIANCES FROM THE MAIN SWITCH. • EVEN SLEEP MODE CONSUMES ABOUT 7% ENERGY. SAVE ENERGY CONSERVE ENERGY
