  1. Oregon Wineries

  2. Oregon is full of natural wonders and a diverse landscape that includes rivers, gorgeous ocean coastlines, and breathtaking plush forests. It is also well known for its harsh winters and wet summers.

  3. Oregon’s climate has long since prevented an expansive wine culture from developing, but with recent advancements in wine production Oregon wineries have sprung up from virtually nowhere.

  4. Oregon’s Brief Wine History As was the case in the majority of the country, Oregon benefited from a booming economy in the early 1900s. However, when prohibition took effect much of the progress with Oregon vineyards was tossed aside with every other form of alcohol production.

  5. It wasn’t until the mid 1960s that wineries in Oregon began to take off.  From the late 1960s to the late 2000s, Oregon experienced a serious boom in wine production and the state now enjoys a diverse amount of wineries and vineyards.

  6. Oregon Wine Variety With over 400 wineries in Oregon, the state produces over 16,000 tons of fruit every year and has a multi-billion dollar industry. The two most popular grape varieties include Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, respectively.

  7. Although, many other types of fruit are planted and cultivated every year, these two simply remain the favorite for exporting on the national level.

  8. When it comes to wine production, cultivation, and renewal Oregon Wineries have most other states beat out.

  9. The amount of growth the industry has seen over the past decade is staggering, and with cities like Portland drawing more people to its neighborhoods every year, this rate isn’t likely to reduce anytime soon.
