  1. What is E-filing

  2. E-filing • What is E-filing ? E-filing is an abbreviation for electronic income tax filing. E-filing is the process of electronically filing your income tax returns online for a specific year. This means you no longer need to physically visit the nearest Income Tax Department office to file your returns. Instead, you log on to the internet and complete the task.  • The process of submitting tax returns over the internet using tax preparation software that has been preapproved by the relevant tax authority, such as the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or the Canada Revenue Agency, is known as electronic filing.

  3. Some easy steps that tell you how to file income tax online : • Step 1: Get yourself registered You must first register on the Income Tax Department's official website before you can e-file your taxes. You must provide information like your name, birthdate, and PAN number in this field. Your PAN will serve as your user ID, and you can choose your password. • Step 2: Select a way to e-file There are two ways to submit your returns online. First, download the crucial form, complete it offline, and then upload it to the website later. The alternative is to select fast e-file and complete the form online. • Step 3: Select the form you require Depending on your occupation and your income, there are numerous sorts of income tax return forms. For instance, those who receive a salary, pension, or income from a property or other source must complete an ITR-1 form, whereas those who receive capital gains must complete an ITR-2 form. Select the crucial form accordingly. • Step 4:  Keep your documents handy You will need your PAN card, TDS certificates, Form 16, investment information, insurance paperwork, and loan papers in order to file taxes online. You must reveal the worth of all of your assets if your income exceeds a certain threshold. As and when needed, you can upload scanned copies of these papers online. • Step 5:  Upload and Submit After accurately filling out all the fields, upload your form to the Income Tax Department's website. You must upload the XML file and then submit your form if you filled it out offline. • Step 6: Verify your ITR (Income Tax Return) –V Your form will create a unique number after you submit it. An ITR (Income Tax Return)-V will be prepared and sent to your registered email ID if you did not submit using a digital signature. Within a 120-day period, you have the option of mailing or electronically verifying the signed ITR-V (Income Tax Return). Only after your ITR (Income Tax Return)-V has been verified is your tax filing process finished.
