  2. if you haven’t purchased Ganesh Idols from artisans yet, it is the time to show your compassion and care for our environment by switching to eco-friendly idols. Why say no to synthetic colors and POP? In earlier times, Ganesh idols were made of clay, grass, and mud. Those days are long gone as we shifted towards non-biodegradable materials like POP and synthetic colors. The harm that those substances are doing is beyond our thinking. Plaster of Paris (POP) is non-biodegradable stuff that doesn’t get dissolved in water and thus polluting the natural resources of water and our environment in general. Ganesh Chaturthi celebration has altered its connotation from earlier devotion with simplicity to competition, grandeur, status, and arrogance. As the demand is on the rise, the sculptors also shifted towards POP substance as it is cheap and easily available. Given that the idols made of POP and painted with synthetic color seem beautiful and it comes cheaper, they are preferred over environment-friendly idols. But isn’t it the time to think about saving our environment? Advantage of Clay Ganesha Using clay to make Ganesha makes the ambiance of Ganesh Chaturthi more traditional. We generally bluster about our deep concern for nature without showing unstinted care for the same. The idea of making idols with claywill initiate our efforts one step forward towards our pledge and as clay Ganesha is eco-friendly, no harm will be done even if we immerse the idol after the festival.
