Tips for Choosing Books for Toddlers and Kids in Preschool While the kind of company one keeps is essential to a healthy growth, even more important is the kind of books for school the child reads as it has the potential to make or break their career and the growing years. The following tips will help you select the right books for preschool: 1.Choose Books for School Which Are At The Right Level For Your Kids Young toddlers enjoy books with lots of rhyme and repetition along with colorful pictures. They also enjoy a predictable text layout which makes them jump at the prospect of teaching. Preschoolers enjoy books which are slightly more complex and the storylines has one or two paragraphs of reading per page. School going kids prefer books at their personal reading levels. These books fall under three categories – books which kids can read alone, books which kids can read with adult, and those which the adult reads to the child. 2.Include a Variety of Books for Preschool Reading of the same book is essential along with including varying subject and topics. From stories of fairies to those of dragons and pirates, each one has its own role to play. Help your child choose a few non-fiction books within a topic of interest to them while you are at the library. Libraries now carry informational books written with a preschooler in mind, and children will sit through the difficult text if the topic is of their interest. 3.Select Books Which Are of Interesting Topics to the Child If your child loves dinosaurs, or princesses, or even nature, or cats, it is worth making an effort to find relatable stories with those kinds of characters, or non-fiction text relating to the topic of interest. 4.Your Child Can Help You Select the Right Books Probably the best way to engage them to find the best book is to flip the first few pages and then help them see the right choices. You can also read the first few pages aloud. Many libraries now offer the best seating area for parents. 5.Ensure You Include Award Winning Books It is best to help your child select the books which are marked with Caldecott, Seuss, or even other author and illustrator medals. The list of best books available on New York Times Best Sellers list is the best book to find the most recent popular books for the kids.
