  3. Trustees • Trustees are responsible for the proper management of the charity • Trustees form a management board that meets 4 times a year, to discuss things like new Fellows, policy issues and future development • Potential Trustees are invited to attend meetings as observers, to see how it operates • Trustees also judge the potential Trustees on how they might fit in with the rest of the board • New Trustees are elected by the Board • Trustees must act solely in the interests of the Trust

  4. Fellowship • Selection of Fellowship is by shortlist and interview • Artists are also selected where the Trust believe that their work will help them attain a fulfilling future, but also whose presence could influence other artists • Existing Fellows also assist the Trustees, who conduct the interviews • Fellowship lasts for 3 years with an extension to 5 years

Community Over the past 50 years the Trust has been involved in: • Community Art Projects • Art Classes • Workshops for the General Public • Community Groups • Schools, Colleges and Universities The unique location of the Farmhouse makes it ideal for the artists to express themselves and, is in a central position to local schools and community groups

  7. Community • September 2004 saw the launch of Stevenage’s own multicultural festival held at the Farmhouse • Artists from Stevenage made International links with their counterparts from France and the Netherlands, this included a book featuring their work known as “Culture in Our Towns” • March 2006 saw the launch of the Heritage Community Project, which launched Stevenage’s Britain in Bloom bid utilising the Farmhouse gardens • Heritage Community Project worked with local schools to produce some interesting pieces of art • Some of these went on display at the Boxfield Gallery as part of the touring exhibition programme

  13. Art in Stevenage The Trust, in partnership with the Hertfordshire Tec and over twenty other local agencies, was successful in obtaining funding from the European Social Fund to provide projects for young people and women returners, mainly from Stevenage, to help them get a better start in working life. Ken Follett, world famous author, who opened an exhibition of work by participants in the project said "In a time where most people will not remain in one career for their whole life, everyone needs the imagination to see new career possibilities they might enjoy and confidence to seek out the opportunities in those careers. I am sure these projects will help the participants on the path to a new career whether in the arts or somewhere else and they have produced some beautiful pieces of art on the way. I congratulate the Trust and the artists on their initiative and the participants for their success on the courses."

  14. The Future • The Farmhouse requires considerable renovation, at an approximate cost of £200,000 • Fund raising in the form of sponsorship from local companies, paid for exhibitions, or lottery fund grant • The Trust and its’ Artists believe that the Farmhouse is in the best location to create their works of art and, best suited to accommodate it’s visitors • The Farmhouse is vital to the artists and residents of Stevenage, to encourage it’s communities to adopt art in their area
