1. Sustainable Packaging: A Step Towards making a difference A very recent addition to the environmental factors for packaging is sustainable packaging. Examining the package design, material selection, processing, and life-cycle necessitates further research and documentation. This goes beyond the nebulous “green movement” that many organizations over the past few years have attempted to embrace. Businesses that adopt environmentally friendly practices use more recycled materials, have smaller carbon footprints, and reuse more packaging elements. They frequently encourage distributors, contract packagers, and suppliers to act in a similar manner. Contents of this article ● Criterias to qualify as sustainable ● Eco friendly packaging materials available at OG HEMP ● Contribution to environment with green packaging ● Process of making eco paper for sustainable packaging These specific elements may be used in packaging that is designed sustainably: •The use of few materials, such as less packaging and packaging layers, less product per unit of packaging mass, less volume, etc. Energy effectiveness, overall energy content and consumption, utilization of clean and renewable energy sources, etc. •Recyclable packaging : Recyclable content that is still usable and available. There are unique safety precautions for materials that come into touch with

2. food, especially when using recycled paper and plastic. Each nation or region posts its own regulations. •Recyclability – recovery value, use of often recycled and simple to recycle materials, elimination of materials that make it difficult to recycle significant components, etc. •Reusable packaging, such as that which can be used over and over again or for different things. When possible, choose products that are renewable, biodegradable, and compostable and avoid contaminating the environment. OG hemp promotes Eco friendly packaging with their various products: ● Compostable paper bags:

3. Strong, 53-gram hemp paper bags that can hold 10 pounds are available; they are compostable. They were made out of basic weight paper, 200GSM. They are adorned with chic, sophisticated rivets and have paper twist handles as well as well-built, precisely cut rivets. Due to their sturdy reinforcement, the bags feature a flat, firm bottom that is easily standable. This is an example of compostable packaging. ● Monocartons: With a 340GSM thickness, our 100% hemp paper monocartons are the ideal choice for all print kinds and a flexible substitute for businesses across all sectors. They are not only a fantastic choice for consumers who are concerned about the environment, but also for those seeking luxury packaging with a touch of elegance. This serves as eco packaging.

4. The various mono carton packing designs that OG hemp o?ers include: 1. Straight gusset tuck – The conventional straight tuck works especially effectively for items that require a sizable window in the front display panel. 2. Top tuck auto bottom – For a speedy and straightforward assembly, the top flap tucks into the front of the box while the bottom folds by itself. 3. Reverse tuck end – The tuck ends are oriented in the opposite direction on either side. How OG HEMP contributes to the environment with their sustainable packaging materials can be described as follows: ● Hemp paper’s environmental impact Hemp paper is created by hand, is chemical-free, and produces little waste. This ultimately reducing its carbon footprint. ● Carbon sequestration

5. Paper made of hemp is the ideal carbon sink. Industrial hemp plants are the only plants that store and absorb the most carbon dioxide. ● Reduce. Reuse. Recycle Hemp paper has a higher potential for recycling than wood-based paper, which is only three times as recyclable. How commercial hemp paper is produced in accordance with customs for environmentally friendly packaging Raw Materials Rarely, if ever, are chemicals used in the production of fiber. Nevertheless, depending on the finished product being created, the fiber may be combined with other materials, such as synthetic fibers or resins as binders. The natural glue components are removed from the fibers before they are combined with water and chemicals (sodium hydroxide or sulfur compounds) to make paper.

6. The Production Process 1. Planting and gathering The annual hemp plant is grown from seeds. Although it may grow on a variety of soils, it usually does best in areas where corn is grown in large quantities. 2. Processing of grains Before keeping, hemp seeds need to be well cleaned and dried. Mechanical cold pressing, also known as mechanical expeller pressing, is the common method used to extract oil under a nitrogen atmosphere. 3. Processing of fiber

7. The woody core is separated from the bast fiber using a series of rollers (breakers) or a hammermill. After cleaning and carding the bast fiber to the required core content and fineness, it may also be cut to size and then baled. 4. Package A tightly compressed bale is created out of the basic fiber. 5. Making paper Paper is typically made from bast fibers, which are placed in a circular tank called a digester along with water and chemicals. All of the fibers in this combination are separated from one another after being heated at a high temperature and pressure for up to eight hours. The chemicals and the pectin, which was extracted as a binding agent, are removed by washing with excessive water. The clean fibers are then put into a device called a Hollander beater, which is made out of a sizable tub with a wheel rotating around a horizontal axis. The fibers are chopped to the right length and given the necessary surface roughness for effective bonding during this beating process, which can last up to 12 hours. Sometimes chemicals for bleaching are applied at this stage or in separate tanks from the fibers. After being bleached, the pulp is either pumped to the paper machine where it is compressed to form sheets of paper. Further from the pulp papers are made of different thickness according to the packaging material to be made from it.
